WHAT HAPPENED?
FIFA has slashed ticket prices for Sunday's FIFA Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., in an attempt to bolster attendance for the contest.
The cheapest available standard admission ticket on Friday was reduced from $312.20 to $249.75, according to USA Today. Premium club seat prices remained unchanged from Wednesday through Friday, with spots in the East Club priced at $ 1,644.65 and seats in the EY Coaches Club at $4,348.50.
On Saturday, the lowest priced ticket available on TicketMaster was $201.75 in section 327, Row 10.

According to FIFA, 2.4 million fans have attended Club World Cup matches so far, with 21 of the 62 matches played seeing at least 50,000 people attend. However, FIFA has been criticized throughout the competition for high ticket prices, causing attendance issues throughout the early stages of the tournament. The Associated Press reported on June 28 that over one million tickets went unused throughout the Group Stage.
Meanwhile, N.J. Gov. Phil Murphy has stated he expects the stadium "to be sold out" with all 82,500 tickets sold, according to Katie Sobko of the Bergen RECORD via Sports Business Journal. Officials have refuted that, saying it will "be a little short of that" to accommodate the halftime show performance from J. Balvin, Doja Cat, and Tems.
